My friend Ivan posted the following, which made me think.
“When occasion arises during the day, when we are sorely tempted, when we are angry, when we are resentful, when we pity ourselves, when we feel frustrated or worried, we can shift gears and connect ourselves with the Supreme Power by uttering the words, Our Father. There we will find help.”
“…when we pity ourselves…” How often we think, or say, “Poor me.” believing that we are the only one suffering. Yet, if we look closely at our trials, our struggles and our pain we may see that they are one or more of the following; self inflicted, common to all people or necessary for emotional and spiritual growth.
It is through our suffering that we learn patience, self discipline and compassion toward others. It is through these trials that we have the opportunity to learn and grow. It is where our character is developed.
So the question is, how will you allow your trials to change you. Will your heart become hardened or will you learn to be compassionate and caring, loving and forgiving?
