There are times, as a parent, that we know our child will not understand our reasoning or our point of view. It is in these times that we can be known to pull out the old “Because I said so.”
When we are young, and our parents say it to us, we consider it unfair and want a better explanation. However, sometimes the answer lies beyond what we can truly understand at the time, for we simply lack the experience or the wisdom to grasp the intricacies of the situation.
The same can be said for our level of understanding when compared to our Heavenly Father. God has a better perspective on things than we do. We simply cannot understand, or grasp, all the intricacies of the world, our relationships, or even the very bodies, in which we live. But our Father knows what we need. He knows what is good for us and what will cause us harm or perhaps lead to our destruction.
So, when you read His word and find that it calls for a change in your life, big or small, whether you understand or not. Think of Him as a loving parent who does not want to see you make the same mistakes in life that He has seen others make, countless times over the years.
Allow God to be a parent and do not be upset when he says, “Because I said so.”
