Through seasons of life friends come and then go.
Each leaves an indelible mark on the soul.
Days spent reveling in the simplest of chatter,
knowing full well, ‘twas the people who mattered.
It’s not what was said or the places we went.
The importance derived from the time that was spent.
Seasons push on separating the two.
Where once there was us, now there’s me and there’s you.
The distance seems great and though we are friends.
It still makes me wonder how the story will end.
There’s a void that is left where your smile once dwelt.
I’m longing once more for the closeness we felt.
Those days in the past, inseparable were we,
both laughed as we walked a life totally free.
Then time complicates things, or was it just me,
realizing our plans were not meant to be?
Like a flood they go by, first weeks then the years.
While time has her way of drying our tears.
You’re never forgotten. I still see your face.
Within every passing of this and that place.
It is then that I see, you are not really far,
for you live on inside me wherever we are.
